Be the FULL STOP is part of the NSPCC’s campaign to end cruelty to children. We want as many people as possible to start getting involved in whatever way they can. www.bethefullstop.com is full of ways that you can join the campaign and take positive action that will make a real difference to children’s lives.
The site has 19 different ways to get involved, we call them ‘deeds’, for you to choose from. Because we all lead busy lives and like different things, the deeds are a mixture of small things – like wearing an NSPCC Full Stop badge – and some bigger activities, like getting involved with a local NSPCC campaign. What ties them together is that they’re all important ways to help end cruelty to children.
Which deed is right for you?
No matter who you are, where you live or how much time you have, the site has deeds that you can start doing today. For example:
Wear a Full Stop Badge
It may just look like a little green dot, but it represents something huge – your commitment to ending cruelty to children. So by wearing it you’re showing the world how you feel and that will encourage others to do the same.
Sign a petition for a safer internet
The internet should be a place where children are safe, and there’s an easy way to do it – make sure all PCs sold in the UK have child-protection software installed as standard. By signing this petition it lets manufacturers know how you feel and the more people do that the greater the chance manufacturers will listen.
Organise a fundraising event
It could be anything from a car boot sale to a fun run. Indeed, one idea could be to organise a tea break and sell biscuits and cakes at work.
By organising any kind of event, you’ll not just be raising money – you’ll also get to know people, have a lot of fun and do something that you’ll always be proud of.
Every deed you do means more people are doing more things, and so more people will be encouraged to take part – it’s a virtuous circle.
