Last year we saw a website built entirely by a primary school in Leicester come top of this category. The winner for best educational site in 2006 is Film Street (www.filmstreet.co.uk). This is a great-looking website which aims to encourage children's participation and engagement with film culture. In this age of digital technology film is one of the first cultural experiences children have and therefore the makers of Film Street believe that it should be at the heart of learning
The judges felt that Film Street should win because of the innovation and interactive aspect of the site. It fits perfectly with its target audience and age group - especially in terms of the brightness and colours present on the homepage. It was also commended for its efforts to remain focused on helping the British film industry by nurturing budding film directors and teaching them the essentials of making films in the UK.

A great website which educates people in Northern Ireland about alcohol and its related problems.

The photographs on this website bear testimony to the men, women and children who created the wealth of the UK and have never received the just recognition, or reward, for their labours.

This is a Scottish website focusing on science education and has a variety of educational downloads for schools.

A excellent site to learn maths from. It uses the idea of getting kids to do online homework and some of the games are very engaging.
